With a five bedroom house, there’s one thing we have a lot of – windows! Cleaning the windows, the glass panels in the doors and the full length patio doors means there’s a lot of need for glass cleaning products in our house. But they always come with a false-smelling chemical scent and don’t always work the best.

That’s why I was interested to learn about Neersol, a new product that offers eco-friendly cleaning for glass and other surfaces and that is also made from eco-friendly materials. Here’s what I discovered when we used it.
What is Neersol?
Neersol is a set of three different cleaning products that come in a tablet form and are easy to make up in a spray bottle. Their range has a glass cleaning tablet, an all purpose cleaning tablet and also a bathroom cleaning tablet.
So how does it work? Simple – grab a spray bottle (or use the one they offer in the shop) and half fill it with warm water. Pop the tablet into it, give it a good shake and once it is dissolved, top up the bottle. Each tablet makes around 1.4 litres of cleaning liquid.
Then you can use it to clean your windows, glass surfaces and mirrors. Just spray it on lightly and wipe away with a cloth or (as we did) with kitchen towel. You don’t need much to get the product to work and a few wipes with the paper towel meant there were no streaks in sight.
What can you clean with it?
The three different products have slightly different jobs around the house:
- All purpose – any water-cleanable surface including painted, glazed surfaces, treated stone, plastic, tiles and kitchen counters
- Glass cleaning – glass, mirrors, car windscreens and windows
- Bathroom cleaning – bathtubs, tiles, showers, basins, baths, toilets and bathroom counters
Each has its own instructions on how to get the best from the product although the basic process of just adding water remains the same across all three.
What makes Neersol different?
Now I bet you have a spray bottle in the cupboard with some kind of cleaning product in it that boasts to do an amazing job on windows. So what makes Neersol different?
There are a couple of key things. First, it is more about what isn’t in the product – it is free from ETDA, alcohol, triclosan, ammonia, parabens, phosphates, bleach and VOCs. It has no nasty chemical smell or false ‘scent’ that makes your nose itch.
It is a plant-based and sulphate free product that is biodegradable so there’s no concern about your cleaning product falling to the floor outside and killing your plants or lingering on the soil for weeks!
Then there are the other benefits. Top of the list is that you can use any bottle you have lying around the house with a spray fitting. You can then re-use the bottle and there’s not a constant stream of used plastic bottles in your bin – some of which aren’t even recyclable yet.
And as a final plus point, the packaging is a recyclable paper box inside a 100% recyclable FSC certified paper envelope. So there’s nothing going into the landfill from this product!
Great quality results
Having had the window cleanliness inspector in (my mum) then we can confirm that the Neersol cleaning tablets do an excellent job, both inside and outside the windows. It is easy to use and goes a long way because you don’t need to soak the windows to get the best results. Now we’ll be trying it around other parts of the house!
